The Vigo County Registry of Negroes and Mulattos

Indiana's 1851 constitution, required all blacks already living in Indiana to register with the clerk of the circuit court. Only Jethro Bass, George Evans, and Armsted Stewart are associated with the Lost Creek Settlement. It's possible that the other Lost Creek and Underwood settlers had registered earlier, in compliance with the 1831 law passage.
